I read somewhere that Lego requires there to be a certain amount of exposed studs for a model to be accepted, outside of Technic. It’s part of their trademark look. That’s an amazing build, though.

That number must be pretty low considering how few exposed studs are on the Saturn V set (as long as you’re not including the baseplate that the lander sits on. Come to think of it, Wall-E and the BTTF Delorean didn’t either.

I don’t think it has to be a lot, just some.

This is awesome, I wonder how much glue was required to make it ?

replicamotorsport.com does some neat stuff, but I'm not dropping $150 for a Lego crate engine. Especially if I'm not able to put it together myself.

In the top pic you can see like 3. Good enough. Now...

Would you rather have this or an incredibly detailed metal model of the same thing with removeable panels for the same price?
Serious question. I saw the Bugatti Chiron Lego car for what, near $500? could shift gears too... But what about a full on metal model with real high detail for the same price?

It’s about being able to build it myself without glue or painting.

It’s not a lack of appreciation. I don’t own any Lego right now so getting me to spend 2 or 3 or even 4 hundred on a set is a huge leap.

Why not a 1.2:1 scale one (yes, larger than life)?

Yeah, they’re not cheap. I at least was able to justify it as a means to spend some time with my kids while we assemble. It’s a tough sell otherwise.
